CPA Scottish Drinks Reception
Wednesday 26th November 2014

The Chairman and Committee of the Scottish Compulsory Purchase Association invite members and those involved in CPO and compensation work in Scotland to their drinks reception.  This invitation is free to members, but members can bring guests and non members can attend at a modest cost.  The event is open across professions - we invite planners, solicitors, advocates, surveyors and accountants; whether from private practice, public authorities or government agencies.

Patrick Layden QC will be our special guest.  He has been developing a discussion paper for publication in December, and will retire from the Scottish Law Commission at the end of the year.  His paper could herald a step change in best practice in CPO work in Scotland and its only correct that we recognise this at this event.

The CPA is an organisation created to bring together and channel the wealth of expertise in the subject of Compulsory Purchase and Compensation,  to promote this  important area  of work and to foster a basis for best practice. In doing so it not only provides a sounding board for change in this sphere but makes comment and provides recommendations relating to relevant Law Commission, government department and other Reports and existing /proposed Legislation. As an important adjunct it promotes training  initiatives  together  with  opportunities  for  those  in  CPO  professions  to  network  and  share experience  and  knowledge.  It is a fully independent and self funded organisation.
