Join our Infrastructure Development Team
(London, Guildford, Reading, Birmingham, Nottingham, Leeds or Manchester)

Gateley Hamer has grown considerably over recent years to develop three teams focusing on Utilities, Compulsory Purchase and Compensation, and Infrastructure Development.

The Infrastructure Development team was only established earlier this year and we are already advising clients in relation to eight DCOs and two TWAOs.  The team acts for a wide range of clients including private promoters of infrastructure schemes, public bodies promoting rail and road schemes, and parties affected by infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate(s) will be joining an established and highly experienced team that will provide the right individual with the support to successfully develop their career in this specialist sector which is facing unprecedented demand.

We are seeking driven individuals who are ‘self-starters’; the ability to work confidently within a project team and to represent or lead the land workstream for a project is essential. An aptitude for negotiations is required, and wider compulsory purchase expertise is preferable but not a prerequisite – Gateley Hamer supports its staff to develop the skills required for the role and to facilitate career progression.

The successful candidate(s) must be flexible with the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and be able to adapt to ever changing client and market requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear strategic advice to Scheme Promoters (and claimants);
• Prepare or assist in the preparation of Property Cost Estimates;
• Negotiate Heads of Terms with affected parties;
• Work with other professionals including planners, land references, solicitors and accountants within a multi-discipline team;
• Manage the land workstream through Examination of projects, acting as Case Manager and reporting into hearings and public inquiries as required;
• Negotiate compensation claims and manage the delivery of land pursuant to agreements or subject to Compulsory Acquisition powers;
• Assist with preparation for Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber) cases.

Key Attributes and Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a Chartered Surveyor and must be able to demonstrate:

  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Problem solving / ‘Can-do’ attitude
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic

Remuneration:
  • Competitive salary
  • Company benefits package
  • Various share saver schemes (Gateley Hamer is part of Gateley Holdings plc)
  • Excellent potential of career progression with a market leading organisation.
